The fourth industrial revolution is a reality. It is estimated that by 2022, 50% of companies expect to reduce their workforce thanks to automation . But at the same time, the workers they already have hired need to adapt to new processes and improve their skills. The alternative is to train or hire new employees to cope with the changes in the work of the future .

Jobs that will disappear, others that will be transformed and new areas that will emerge
The main problem for companies is that they openly admit that only a small part of their workers are trained to face this change. In addition, 84% say they prefer to hire new workers with the necessary skills to lead the process. If we add to this the fact that only 72% are committed to improving the training of the staff they already have, we are faced with a transfer of workers who will necessarily end up unemployed.
The report states that at least 54% of workers will have to improve their skills by 2022. And it is not an easy training, it is estimated that at least 6 months will be required for 35% of them, up to a year for 9% and another 10% will have to extend it for more than a year.
The areas that will suffer the most are the most routine and repetitive jobs or those that require mid-level skills. Examples would be data entry, accounting and administrative work, assembly factory workers, warehouse clerks or customer information workers.
It is estimated that 75 million jobs will disappear between now and 2022. This is mainly due to the change in the ratio between work done by humans and work done by machines. Currently, 71% of the hours worked are done by people compared to 29% by machines. The change will be noticeable in 2022, rising to 58% and 42% respectively.
New emerging sectors
It's not all bad news. It is estimated that this substitution will create 133 million jobs related to or based on this fourth industrial revolution, such as data analysts and scientists, artificial intelligence and robotics specialists, general and operational managers , software and application developers, sales and marketing professionals , big data specialists or digital transformation specialists.
