Step 3: Decide whether to reject or remove malicious links

The next step is obviously to get rid of toxic backlinks. This can be done in 2 ways:

By contacting the owner of the referring india mobile number list website and asking them to delete the link (removal).

By submitting it to the disavow list and then exporting it to Google's Disavow Link tool (disavow).

To avoid wasting time contacting spammers and scammers, divide your toxic links into those you can remove and those you can’t.

Go to the “Audit” tab of the Backlink Audit tool and whitelist all links with a toxicity score lower than 45.

Then, filter the list to see your toxic links and try to group them based on the top issues you found in step 2.

For example, if you have a high toxicity score, you need to know which links are causing it. Since the most toxic links appear first, you can check their markers and filter the list to find similar ones. Unfortunately, the links you find this way are most likely from domains whose owners are not interested in fulfilling your request to remove the link.

Similarly, you can filter the list by Link Attribute or Anchor – this will give you some links that you can potentially have removed.

Another way to sort links is to get a list of toxic backlinks based on the source of the problem: URL, page title, destination URL, or anchor text. This is especially useful when dealing with negative SEO.
