How does PromoPage targeting work?

Here manual settings and automatic content targeting are combined. How it looks is shown in the screenshot.
Setting up Zen promotion targeting
First, targeting is set up by gender, device types, age, and region. By default, all possible options are enabled. If you have a rough idea of the audience of your product, it is better to specify them. Keep in mind that on mobile devices, ads are displayed not only on websites, but also in applications.
Optimization, as before in Zen promo, cannot be changed - only the advantages of line database auto-targeting by content is available. It uses two algorithms.
Automatic targeting by semantic proximity. The advertising algorithm determines the topic of the article by analyzing the text and other elements, headings and the company page to which the promo post leads. After that, the advertisement is shown to users who were interested in similar content on other sites. This targeting is used at the initial stage of the campaign so that the promo article in Zen gets read to the end.
Look-a-Like audiences. When a certain number of users have finished reading an article or have visited a site while reading, the algorithm selects an audience similar to them in interests and types of pages viewed.
Manual settings are minimal. If you do not want to conduct preliminary audience analysis, we recommend not changing them. For example, in the case of attracting children to an online camp of a grocery retailer , there was a complex audience: children aged 8-12 and their parents, who all together do not clearly demonstrate behavioral interests. After the initial placement, the advertiser adjusted the volume of articles to the optimal one. Then, auto-targeting by content turned out to be more effective than standard targeting tools that were previously used on other platforms.
