Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta is going to start working with “digital collectibles” , first on Instagram and later on Facebook. The goal, for starters, is to allow both creators and collectors to set an NFT as their profile picture.
This will come with an “augmented reality malaysia phone number data NFT on Instagram Stories through Spark AR to be able to place digital art in physical spaces,” as stated by the tycoon on his Facebook account.
The goal of adding NFTs is to help make it easier for people to sell limited edition digital items, show them off, or even resell them to others. For now, they're being tested with some creators in the United States , so we'll have to wait to see them on other users' accounts.
“It’s about freedom of expression and saying something about yourself. What do you want on your profile? What is the collection you want to show off? That’s why I’m really excited to start testing this. We’ll soon be bringing this functionality to Facebook as well and perhaps later to other apps in our family ,” Zuckerberg adds.
