The infographic below was developed by The Website Marketing Group . They conducted research into social media usage from June 2012 to March 2013. The results show that 93 percent of marketers use social media for business purposes. Increasingly, this is done via mobile phones. In the last two years, more than 800 million people visited a social network via a smartphone. An increase of 60.3 percent!


When we look at the figures of popular social networks, Facebook is (still) in first place. 665 million people visit the social network every day. The fastest growing network is Twitter. In the period from June 2012 to March 2013, the number of users increased by 44 percent. Not only Facebook and Twitter are doing well. Google's social network, for example, has seen growth of 46 percent. People over forty in particular know how to find their way to Google Plus. Furthermore, the figures show that more and more organizations are creating a company page on LinkedIn.

Rise of visual content
