Suppression of illegal activities
The latest moves may be just the beginning of a longer crackdown on illicit market activity, as such efforts are directly linked to the country's longer-term, broader push to boost the domestic market to ensure sustainable growth amid persistent external risks, analysts say. They also come as the country's consumption recovery is relatively slow.
The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) said on Tuesday it has begun taking administrative measures to improve the quality of products sold on online marketplaces to protect consumer rights.
While live streaming sales have played a positive role in people's lives, there are also "notable issues raised by the general public, including poor quality products, false advertising, poor after-sales service and lack of consumer protection," SAMR said in a statement, demanding that platforms conduct "thorough reviews" of their products.
These issues were exposed at the World Consumer Rights Day gala uruguay telegram database on Monday night, which shed light on a range of illegal practices that violate consumer rights. Another major theme of the show was the illegal collection of consumer information, including facial recognition data, by both online and offline companies.
