I have met many great managers in this industry over the years. I've also seen a lot of things that didn't work out in the end. Of these, I can confidently say that % of them don’t succeed because they don’t communicate enough. Some people prefer to live on an island. Well, that's a lonely place, and it doesn't work in this industry. I've already mentioned the extreme speed and numerous moving parts. How can a team navigate the minefield without strong communication? That's the gist of this habit, but I have to share a little pet peeve of mine.

Have you ever witnessed an email chain moving back and forth and the email being austria phone number library longer than it should be? No one understands what the other person is saying and it’s basically a dumpster fire? Why isn't anyone answering the phone? That's what I suggest. Cell phones are primarily our primary tool for getting work done in this industry. Its purpose is communication, let's use it! I'm not disparaging other forms of communication, I use phone calls, emails, text messages, Skype, etc. at any given time.

But sometimes there isn't a good substitute for voice conversations. Invest in yourself and stay balanced – there are two parts to this, but they go hand in hand. As we grow, we all get better. Sometimes this is additional training or education. Motivational seminar or conference. Skill development and hobbies outside of work. And read, read, read. Anything you can do to invest in yourself to continue your personal growth is more important than I can express.
