WordPress pages are dynamic. This means they are built on the fly each time someone visits a post or page on your site.

For your page version, WordPress has to run a process to find the necessary information, assemble it, and then display it to your account.

This process involves many steps and can really slow down your site when multiple people are visiting it at the same time.

That's why we recommend all WordPress sites use a caching plugin . Caching can make your WordPress site 2x to 5x faster.

Here's how it works.

Instead of going through the entire page generation process every time, your caching shareholder database extension makes a copy of the page after the first load and then serves that cached version to all subsequent users.

How caching works
As you can see in the graphic above, when a user visits your WordPress site, your server retrieves information from a MySQL database and your PHP files. It then assembles them into HTML content , which is presented to the user's account.

It's a long process, but you can skip a lot of it by using caching.

There are many WordPress caching plugins, but we recommend using WP Rocket (premium) or WP Super Cache (free).

Check out our step-by-step guide on how to install and cache WP Super Cache on your WordPress site . It's not difficult to set up, and your web users will notice the difference.

Additionally, many WordPress hosting companies like Bluehost and SiteGround offer caching solutions.
