Ideal number of articles to publish per month: what do the studies say?
Let’s use figures to give you some concrete elements .
Hubspot conducted the survey among its own customers (13,500 sites) to try to get the answer to this question .
No surprise here: the more articles you publish on your blog, the more traffic you will get .
Whether in B2B or B2C, companies publishing more than 16 articles per month receive 3.5 times more traffic than those publishing between 0 and 4 articles monthly.
In B2C, we observe a notable difference from 6 articles published per month, whereas from 0 to 5 articles, the traffic is roughly the same.
In B2B, the difference really comes from more than 11 articles per month.
Does posting frequency affect lead generation?
Ok, publishing more brings more traffic , but does it also mean more prospects to convert into customers (or leads in marketing jargon)?
Well yes!
According to Hubspot, businesses that publish more than 16 articles per month generate 4.5 times more leads than those that publish 0-4 articles.
Does the number of articles on the blog have an influence on traffic?
Again, yes!
The switch is made above 400 articles present on the blog. The traffic will be 2.5 times greater than for a company having published between 301 and 400 articles.
So yes, that’s a lot… Enough to make your head spin.

How to decide on the number of articles to publish each month?
Knowing all this is good, but you may be a little discouraged.
Because publishing 16 articles per month is a full-time job!
So ok, Google loves novelty, we understand that well, but you might not become its slave...
The ideal and what is humanly possible to do is to publish one article per week , so 4 articles per month.
It's not the perfect formula in terms of immediate traffic, but with 1 article per week, you get 52 articles in one year, 104 in two years, 156 in 3 years... Which is already not bad!
(Oh yeah, I never mentioned to you that SEO is a long-term job?)
How often to publish your blog: the decision criteria
There are several factors to consider when deciding on frequency:
Competition: What are your competitors doing? How often do they post and how many articles are on their blog?
Your goal: the more ambitious it is (becoming first for a given keyword, having 10,000 monthly visits to my site, etc.), the more you will have to put the effort into your blog!
The amount of time you dedicate to blog posts (don’t commit to publishing 5 posts per month if you already have a full-time job on the side)
OR the budget you are willing to spend to delegate this part (knowing that if you are going for more than 10 articles per month, a single freelancer may prove insufficient)
Quality! You want my opinion? It's better to publish twice a month and work hard to provide quality content to Google rather than publishing every two days and falling into mediocrity, skimming over a topic or worse, copying!
And the most important element: your strategy !
What is your blog strategy?
I can never say it enough: nothing should be left to chance on your blog.
Don't post articles here and there on topics that have nothing to do with what you sell, without optimization...
Each post on your blog should:
Match your editorial line
Be attached to a keyword
Finding your place in an editorial calendar (to ensure the regularity of your publications and know where you are going)
Be linked to other articles on your blog (good internal linking is beneficial for SEO, with a semantic cocoon it's even better!) and other pages on your site (to encourage your reader to take action, long live calls to action!).

So, how many times a month do we publish?
The minimum I recommend to my clients is twice a month , once every 15 days.
Below that, it’s really not much and the results will not live up to your expectations …
On the other hand, there is no maximum!
However, the most important thing is to be realistic : if you don't have the time or budget for more than one article per month, it's already better than nothing at all .
And if you need help developing an editorial calendar, writing your blog posts because you're short on time, or becoming independent on the subject, don't hesitate to contact me.
