With the Voice Search method, which is quite enjoyable and comfortable to use, we have actually started to feel more like we are living in the future. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that especially during the pandemic period, people’s desire to reach the content or what they are looking for faster than usual has now come close to our mothers calling out to the remote control while watching a series.
As far as we can see, with the latest updates for Google Assistant, which is served by Google;
Google Assistant routines can now be added to your home screen:
Routines make it easy to perform a series of actions on Google Assistant devices with just a single keyword. Now, though, Google is making them even more accessible by allowing Android users to put Google Assistant routines on their home screens.
As of December 9, 2020, it appears that Google Assistant routine shortcuts on the home screen are rolling out more widely. While the feature isn’t showing up for all users, it is now showing up when editing a routine other than the new “Home/Away” routines. Presets or completely custom routines can be quickly added to the home screen, as seen below.
At the same time, Google Assistant announced that voice notifications will now work on all wired headphones.
Aside from voice commands, the key aspect of Google Assistant headphones is that incoming notifications are read out loud. Google has now brought this Assistant feature to all wired headphones, regardless of whether they are optimized by the manufacturer or not.
In January 2020, for the first time, Google Assistant announced the ability to control and set smart home hardware on a schedule . For example, you can ask the Assistant to turn on a Philips Hue bulb at a specific time, or you can ask the action to occur after a certain amount of time. On top of that, you can also ask an action to only occur for a certain amount of time. Saying “Hey Google, turn on the lights for 5 minutes” will immediately turn the lights on, but then turn them off a few minutes later without needing any further commands.
Hum To Search
One of the 2020 updates that caught our attention the most was the ability to find songs we couldn't find by humming to Google Assistant:
With Google's latest announcement , you can use Google to "Hum to Search" to find out what song is stuck in your head.
Google now lets you "hum, whistle, or sing a tune" to search on mobile devices. In the Google app for Android and iOS, you can tap the microphone and say "What's this song?" or tap the "Search for a song" button.
You have to hum for 10-15 seconds before being provided job seekers database with "Google Search Results." This list includes the cover art and artist name, as well as a match percentage.
Hum to Search also works in Assistant after you say, "Hey Google, what's this song?"
Nowadays, we can say that we have started to use remote controls as microphones with speaker systems such as Chromecast, smart TV accessories and the like. Moreover, even our efforts to talk to speakers such as Alexa and Google Home have played a big role in adapting people to this technology.
For example, being able to directly enter the location they want to go to via voice command on Google Maps or Yandex navigation applications, which are the most used applications by taxi drivers today, has enabled drivers to have a safer driving experience.
So what does the future hold for Voice Search? How can we determine an SEO strategy?
Juniper Research estimated earlier this year that there were 3.25 billion voice assistants in use - they predict it will reach eight billion by 2023.
Google Voice prioritizes fast-loading websites, so brands should ensure that images are optimized, files are compressed, response time is reduced, and the site is fully responsive, meaning site speed is high.
Content should be optimized with long-tail keywords that reflect popular queries used in voice search.
Featured snippets are summary responses from web pages that can be used in position zero. To optimize content accordingly, you can add identifiable summaries to be featured and make the content easier for Google to read by using heading tags.
Structured data and schema markup provide more insight into a brand and drive traffic. They help pages appear in rich snippets, which will increase the chance of being the first result in voice searches.
To meet the increasing search volume for voice-activated local businesses, local information should be provided for your brand – using Google My Business will help.
What can we do to catch up with 2021 Voice Search trends?
Voice command devices, which are gaining momentum and becoming more popular day by day, seem to be coming with more minimal designs in the future. Since users will now want to get more efficiency from their smart device systems and use more different functions while sitting at home, the developments to be made will probably be in this direction.
