The future of 5th generation communications in Ukraine is still vague. As Oleksandr Komarov noted: “ I don’t see a horizon now when the 5th generation of communications will be introduced in Ukraine .” Firstly, today only 1.5% of the total smartphone base supports 5G technology. Although by 2025, according to the forecast, this figure will increase to 25%. Secondly, 5G requires very dense construction of sites, in fact, transmitters are placed even on lampposts. And here you can’t do without state support.

The most popular frequencies for 5G will be 700 MHz , which will provide the maximum coverage radius, and 3500 MHz - for areas with a high subscriber density. Moreover, experimental work is still underway on the 700 MHz spectrum.

Most likely, the active implementation of 5G will not begin b2b email list before 2025, although the tender for frequency allocation will be held next year. Currently, 5G makes no economic sense, believes the CEO of Kyivstar. But there is another factor - competition. And the tender will probably specify when operators should implement the network. This may somewhat speed up the implementation process. Although there may be another way of developing events, for example, in Europe some operators have acquired frequencies, but the launch of the 5G network has been postponed for a certain period.

In general, there is some disappointment in the world with 5G. Among large countries, only two states are actively implementing it: China and the USA. In China, the implementation of 5G has been made a state program, since equipment from local vendors is used there. That is, operators are essentially investing in Chinese manufacturers.
