Facebook app, the most used by Android users

According to a recent study by Nielsen , the Facebook app is the most used app among Android users, and has only been surpassed by the app that gives access to the download store, the Android Market app. A study confirms that the social network app surpasses apps from Google services such as Gmail, Google Maps or YouTube.

Nielsen has been analysing the most used apps by Android users for a whole month. The company has obtained the data from its survey panel and has divided them into three age categories: users aged 18 to 24, 25 to 34 and 35 to 44.
In all three age groups, the first and second positions coincide. The most used application by users in all the ages analysed is Android Market. This is the app that allows access to the rest of Android applications and is pre-installed on most terminals with Google 's mobile OS .
In the first age group, 18 to 24 years old, 89 percent used Android Market during the 30 days that the Nielsen study lasted. Android Market is the gateway to applications and also the space to access to update those already installed. Its percentage of use increases in the other age groups. The intermediate group shows a use of 92 percent and 95 percent among users aged 35 to 44 years.

Second place is also common across all three age groups. Facebook is the second most used app on Android devices. In this case, the middle age group, 25 to 34 years old, is the one that uses the app the most each month, with 81 percent. The youngest user group is the second most Facebook users, with 80 percent, and the oldest is the one that uses it the least, with 77 percent.
