An NGO can be small, but have big projects. Is it possible that a small group of people with a big idea has the power to transform the world?
At Sage and the Sage Foundation, we believe this is possible. That’s why today we’re launching a new Business Fund to support projects by nonprofits of all sizes in the three areas that the Sage Foundation is focusing on in 2017: women and girls, young people, and military veterans.
When we talk about the challenges that small businesses, business owners and entrepreneurs have to face, we often forget that non-profit organisations are part of these night clubs and bars email list groups. But NGOs are still businesses. Small and medium-sized NGOs, which represent 80% of the Third Sector in Spain , face the same everyday problems every day: managing cash flow, keeping control of general expenses, innovating and constantly changing to be successful in a highly competitive environment.
Reality also tells us that small NGOs do not have the same access to aid or resources as large charities. For example, global campaigns by large charities are very visible and often have a great impact. And this is not something we cannot blame, since great results are achieved for very good causes. But if we look around us, there are also many small NGOs in our environment with innovative projects that go unnoticed, capable of significantly improving the lives of many people.
What would happen if these small NGOs had access to the necessary funds and sufficient visibility to make their projects a reality?
Sage Foundation is dedicated to meeting these needs and today we are very proud to announce the launch of the Sage Foundation Business Fund: $1 million available during 2017 to support NGOs in local communities where Sage has a presence, to finance entrepreneurial projects that improve the lives of women and girls, young people and military veterans.
