Bad Trick No. 5 to infinity…

Post by sami »

I could list many more tricks, some of which you have probably already come across yourself: unspecific mass emails, unsolicited newsletters, bait-and-switch headlines on Twitter, annoying invitations to Facebook groups and so on. But the effect is usually similar: instead of achieving the desired result, the opposite is achieved. You may end up on the block list of many recipients or be muted, meaning that in the future you will no longer be able to get through even with really interesting offers and information.

What do I do if…?
But what if I have a really important message of great general interest? If I want to be absolutely sure that all my contacts receive this information? Then I have no other option than to bypass the usual mechanisms and do the otherwise unpopular "push", right?

Unfortunately, the answer in this case is: No. Absolutely not, for bitcoin data the following reasons:

3 Theses Against the Push
Thesis No. 1: Only what everyone can potentially do works.
"If everyone did that...": This is actually a platitude, but in this case it is very clear. Because if all users on social networks used these tricks, any real communication would be impossible in an instant. This applies even if everyone only claims this for themselves "as an exception". Even with a three-digit number of contacts, we would all be inundated with such page invitations, unwanted emails or misused event invitations - or are already being inundated. If you have a large network, it is often already a challenge to separate the relevant from the spam. Occasional slip-ups may be tolerated. If you push repeatedly, you will quickly put yourself out of action. So please simply extrapolate the action you are currently thinking about to all your own contacts. Only if each of you could potentially do something similar without getting annoyed yourself is it even worth thinking about it further.

Thesis No. 2: What is important to you may not be my concern.
Someone has an issue that is of great importance to them. That's why they want to spread the word to all their contacts. However, this annoys many of their own contacts more than it helps the cause. A possible objection could be: "But this isn't an advertising message, it's an important matter of general interest that I am selflessly committed to." However, the person forgets that what is their top priority may be of no interest to others - and vice versa. It is often difficult to make this clear to yourself, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Rejection that comes back because of the path chosen is then often not understood and perceived as hurtful; one more reason not to resort to any tricks.
