Last Tuesday, June 8, the forum on opportunities and challenges of Digital Talent in Spain took place, within the sequence “The Employees of the Future and the Future of Employment in Spain” organized by ManpowerGroup and DigitalES
The Tech Cities 2021 study was presented at the event, a comprehensive x-ray of digital employment, a report prepared biannually, which reviews the evolution of the technological profiles of our country, the number of job offers, in-demand skills, salary expectations and geographical distribution, were some of the topics discussed during this session.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on these profiles and the advertising database opportunities that have arisen in all sectors by incorporating new digital skills were also analysed.
This event was attended by Carlos Alonso, CEO of Experis, and Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, CEO of DigitalES, who in his presentation pointed out the need for STEM training in Spain, at a historic moment since Europe is going to launch the recovery funds, with a significant budget and willingness to reform, towards digitalization.
“It is not only essential to promote digital skills at school and university, but also for retraining” stressed Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, who added “regulated training does not adapt to changes so quickly” and this is where training centres contribute to society and are aware of the needs of the market to offer the best training, covering the training needs in digitalisation.

Fernando Aguilar, director of operations at Experis and in charge of this study, listed the most notable conclusions of the study that was presented, where he highlighted how the Coronavirus had accelerated companies towards the digitalization of certain processes, becoming an already evident reality.
Another of the highlights was the emergence of new IT profiles and digital specialties, which are on the rise. All these technological profiles represent an average annual gross salary 42% higher than the national average.
Aguilar concluded that "to be a good technological profile you have to be up to date," which means investing in your training.
The day continued with a panel discussion with leading market companies and ended with Carmen Artigas, Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, who spoke about the digital economy and how it is expected to “generate 2 million jobs in Spain and which is expected to increase exponentially with the explosion of the digital economy, which is expected to account for up to 40% of the European GDP by the end of 2021… it is time to make a decisive commitment to digital talent.”
