How to Optimize Your Google My Business Profile

Post by kumartk »

Filling out your Google Business Profile won't get you to the first page of search results. However, it will help you stand out: you'll be 2.7 times more likely to stand out from the crowd. It's also worth noting that people are 70% more likely to trust a business with a complete profile than one with an incomplete profile.

Google uses three factors to determine its ranking:

Relevance: Relevance defines the extent to which an establishment's profile matches the query entered by the user.
Distance: This is the distance between your position and the user's position.
Prominence: Prominence indicates how well-known your business is (based on factors such as number of reviews, score, and other SEO factors ).
Use special attributes where appropriate
Certain types of businesses – restaurants, hotels and services – have access to specific features:

Hotels can display a star rating, sustainability information, on-site amenities, check-in iceland phone number data and check-out times, and a direct booking link.
Restaurants and bars can upload their menu , photos of the dishes offered , and accept reservations and online orders directly from their business profile.
Service businesses can display a list of their services .
In the United States, healthcare providers can display health insurance information and offer online appointment booking.
In addition to these specific examples, there are a whole range of other types of buttons available to most businesses, allowing Internet users to make an appointment, use a booking link or order online.

You can also add "tags" to your listing to indicate important information (for example, if your business is by appointment only) or to let people know that your door is open to all types of people. For example, you could provide information about your location's accessibility (wheelchairs, etc.), indicate the availability of free Wi-Fi, or indicate outdoor seating. You can even indicate that your business is woman-owned and/or 2SLGBTQI+-friendly.

To edit these labels, go to your dashboard and click Edit Card . Scroll down to the More section to find these attributes.

Establishment information: add hours, audience, payments, services, options
Add real images of your business
Photos help generate interest and differentiate your business from other establishments. For brick-and-mortar stores, it's easy: take stunning photos of your business in action.

Not good with photography? Hire a professional photographer and use the resulting images on your social media profiles, including Google Business Profile, and your website. Another option: run a contest offering a gift card or product in exchange for your customers submitting their best photos.

According to Google, businesses that display photos receive more inquiries and web traffic.

You can add a cover photo and additional images during the setup process:

Customizing your profile and adding photos of your establishment
You can also add or edit photos at any time from the Google Business Profile dashboard by clicking Add Photo :

Option to add photos to Google Business Profile (fourth tab from the top)
Add a custom description
You can add a custom description of up to 750 words, which will appear across all Google services, such as Search and Maps. Use this opportunity to highlight your business's unique features rather than just stating what you do.
